Not all Medicare Plans are Created Equal. See What HAP Has to Offer for 2019

Medicare enrollment has started… and you’re probably seeing a lot of ads for plans with $0 premiums. It’s natural to think, “At $0 a month, how can I go wrong?” But the truth is, $0 and “free” are two different things. There are still costs associated with these plans (like deductibles, copays and coinsurance). So, your premium may be $0, but you’ll still need to pay out of pocket.

However, some plans with $0 premiums offer more than others. For 2019, our team is bringing more value to our Medicare Advantage health plans. Enhanced benefits include:

• Dental, hearing and vision – now with improved coverage.

With HAP, you get:

  • $0 copays for preventive dental care
  • $0 copays for routine eye exams
  • $100 yearly allowance to help pay for glasses, frames and contact lenses
  • $0 copays for routine hearing exams
  • $0 copays for hearing evaluations and fittings
  • Two hearing aids (one per ear) each year at a copay, not an allowance
  • $0 annual physical exam (one per calendar year) – which includes preventive health care measures.

•  $0 annual physical exam (one per calendar year) - which includes preventative health care measures.

•  $0 Telehealth services. Now, you can save time and money by seeing a doctor on your computer, tablet or smartphone. All for a $0 copay. Telehealth visits are available 24/7 and are a great alternative to driving to the doctor or urgent care for a minor illness or injury. You don’t even have to get out of your pajamas!

• Lower copays on prescriptions when preferred network pharmacies are used. Use a pharmacy in the Medicare Preferred Value Network, and you’ll get the lowest copays. If you want to, you can still use a non-preferred network pharmacy. It may cost more, but not as much as an out-of-network pharmacy.

•  Up to $400/year allowance for over the counter items and medications. Get up to a $100 allowance per quarter to help lower your costs on over-the-counter medicines, such as aspirin and cough/cold medication.

•  A gym membership for $0 or access to home fitness kits. Through the Silver & Fit exercise and healthy aging program, you can choose from a large network of fitness centers and classes to keep active. Or, if you’d rather workout at home, you can choose from a selection of more than 20 home fitness kits, which may include a DVD, booklet and a quick start guide. Get more information.

•  An extensive network. Use your coverage almost anywhere. HAP is accepted by thousands of doctors and most Michigan hospitals (including Beaumont, Henry Ford and Michigan Medicine). Like to travel? We also offer worldwide coverage for emergencies and urgent care.

•  Personal service coordinators. We try to make our plans as easy to understand as possible, but healthcare can still be confusing. You can talk to our team of experts for help understanding your plan, selecting a doctor and saving money.

•  Wellness programs: Get free tools to help keep your health on track. This includes instructor-led classes, nutrition and weight management programs, tobacco intervention, and more.

•  Member discounts. Enjoy exclusive discounts on a variety of health and wellness-related activities and services.

•  Identity theft protection. To help safeguard your name, credit rating and identity, we’ve partnered with Assist America. Members can securely register up to 10 credit or debit cards for 24/7 surveillance.

•  Emergency travel assistance. Travel worry-free, knowing that wherever you are, you can call on Assist America 24/7.

When you put all of this together with a $0 premium, you’re getting more from your health plan than ever before.
