Health Alliance Plan (HAP), a Michigan-based nonprofit health plan, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the opportunity to offer health insurance coverage to retirees of Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System through the Michigan Office of Retirement Servies (ORS). Under the contract, HAP will provide an HMO product to Michigan public school retirees and their families, including both non-Medicare and Medicare products.
“We’re honored to have the opportunity to serve Michigan Public School employees during this pivotal moment in their lives,” said Dr. Michael Genord, HAP president and CEO. “The impact educators have on students and their communities is immeasurable, and it’s HAP's privilege to serve them in retirement. We are committed to providing top-tier healthcare support for educators and their families, ensuring the highest standards of care and service.”
ORS provides post-employment health coverage to eligible non-Medicare and Medicare members, including retirees, spouses and their dependents who are enrolled in the health plans. This coverage is extended to retired employees of local school districts, intermediate school districts, tax-supported community or junior colleges, and certain universities.
HAP has a long-standing commitment of providing high-quality healthcare coverage to Michiganders. Beginning January 1, 2025, we are honored to extend this service to retired public school employees and their families. Through this HMO contract, HAP will deliver comprehensive health insurance and access to a wide network of healthcare providers and services.
