- As many national companies signal benefit cuts, the Detroit-based health system aims to better serve the Medicare community.
- HAP announces additional plans ahead of Medicare Annual Enrollment Period.
DETROIT - Henry Ford Health and its non-profit health insurance company HAP (Health Alliance Plan) are launching their first co-branded Medicare product. Offering the richest benefits of any HAP plan, this move comes as many national health plans signal pending benefit cuts in response to recent financial adjustments by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The Henry Ford Select (HMO) plan, being marketed as Henry Ford Health Medicare Advantage powered by HAP, offers Medicare Advantage consumers a plan built for Henry Ford Health patients and consumers who are looking for access to a care network that now includes both Henry Ford Health providers and those aligned with the legacy Ascension Michigan sites that just joined Henry Ford.
“Elevating the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve is at the heart of everything we do,” said Bob Riney, President & CEO of Henry Ford Health. “With the launch of our co-branded Medicare Advantage plan, we are taking a bold step in ensuring our Medicare-eligible members not only maintain access to their trusted Henry Ford Health providers, but also receive comprehensive, affordable primary and specialty care. This plan is designed to provide real value so our members can focus on living healthier, fuller lives without the worry of mounting healthcare costs.”
In addition to $0 premiums and primary care physician copays, the plan also features $15 co-pays for visits to Henry Ford’s nationally recognized specialists – providing access to world renowned care for less than any other offering in the market. It also includes an $820 annual prepaid benefits Mastercard for over-the-counter items and more; $10 copays for physical, occupational and speech therapy; 100% dental coverage for preventive and comprehensive services up to $2,000; $0 Tier 1 and 2 mail-order prescription copays; $150 vision allowance plus extra discounts at Henry Ford Health’s OptimEyes facilities and more.
The Henry Ford Select (HMO) plan is available to members who live in Genesee, Lapeer, Jackson, Hillsdale, Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
“As a mission-driven, provider-sponsored health plan, HAP is focused on re-investing into our Medicare product portfolio, creating benefit-rich, affordable plans designed to give equitable access to quality care,” said Dr. Michael Genord, Executive Vice President of Henry Ford Health and President & CEO of HAP. “These new plans, especially the Henry Ford Medicare Advantage plan, demonstrate our continued dedication to delivering quality care and support our members deserve.”
