TROY, Mich.— HAP CareSource, a mission-driven health insurance plan, today announced it will bring its health coverage back to Michigan’s Health Insurance Marketplace beginning Jan. 1, 2025. HAP CareSource’s plans will give Michiganders and their families in six counties the ability to access affordable and comprehensive health care coverage options.
“HAP CareSource’s reentrance to the Marketplace allows us to build on our longstanding service to Michiganders and enhance the experience we provide for both the people we serve and the health care providers with whom we work,” said Dr. Michael Genord, president and CEO of HAP. “By offering a wide continuum of products, we’re committed to meeting the diverse health care needs of Michiganders and ensuring long-term access to quality care.”
HAP CareSource will offer Marketplace coverage in Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties with one of the broadest provider networks in the market. This helps ensure members have access to a wide range of doctors and health care facilities, including a robust network of specialized care providers that can support members with chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
Open enrollment for the Marketplace begins Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15, 2024, for a Jan. 1 start date. Coverage starts Feb. 1, 2025, for those who enroll in or change plans from Dec. 16 through Jan. 15.
HAP offered Marketplace health plans from 2014 to 2018 and reenters the Health Insurance Marketplace as HAP CareSource.
The introduction of this product allows HAP and HAP CareSource to support Michigan residents in every stage of life: from individuals and families with Medicaid and Marketplace products, to employers and employees on commercial products, to retirees and seniors on Medicare.
